This full day tour offers an enchanting journey around the exotic sights of the north. Begin your day at the famous Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens which dates from 1767 and is world renowned for its 500 species of rare plants, water lilies, palms and spices. Within the gardens you will see the Chateau de Mon Plaisi which was built in 1735 for the French governor. This is also the resting place of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, Mauritius' first prime minister and leader of the Mauritian independence movement. Continue on to other exotic landmarks including picturesque Cap-Malheureux and Grand Bay, stopping here for fantastic views over the island of Gunner’s Quoin. Lunch will be served at L’Aventure du Sucre, a restaurant famed for its authentic local cuisine. Here at the site of the Beau Plan Sugar Factory you can also learn more about the history and varied culture of the island. The final stop of the day is in the capital Port-Louis where you can catch a glimpse of local life, visit the Blue Penny Museum and relax at the Caudan Waterfront which is a great place to shop for crafts and souvenirs.
